A COTSWOLD VISIT TO DAYLESFORD FARM
Hey guys! So this week I popped along to Daylesford Organic Farm in Kingham for some much needed R&R. It's been a busy few months and I realised the other day I had been putting off doing something for myself for ages, in particular yoga which I used to do regularly... it's vital to have down time and be kind to your body! So off I trotted to the Cotswolds for some me time!
I have been visiting Daylesford for years and each and every time come away feeling really inspired by the beautiful environment and chic decor.
The Bamford family have been farming organically for over 35 years and founded Daylesford in 2002, which has grown into one of the most sustainable organic farms in the UK, and although the farm feels nothing like an actual farm, some pretty cool offshoots have sprung from the core business of Organic produce. There is the fabulous restaurant, the sublime clothing brand Bamford and of course the Hay Barn which has a full range of spa treatments and classes. Despite the hefty price tags, I do love it here and enjoy taking a look around the various barns and chic offerings.
THE HAY BARN AT DAYLESFORD
First stop the Hay Barn Spa for some yoga. I have to say the yoga classes at Daylesford are, for me, the best I have ever experienced. The yoga instructor Vettri is incredibly experienced and somehow understands your needs and capabilities without talking too much. This makes for a really easy, meditative class with maximum benefits!
After the session you're invited downstairs to the Lavender Room for some green tea and have the opportunity to "come to" after your class in lovely tranquil surroundings overlooking the green fields of the farm.
TIME FOR A BITE TO EAT
Next stop The Old Spot restaurant (my favourite bit) for some delicious healthy salad. The food is wholesome, tasty, beautifully presented and most importantly Organic and the decor of the restaurants are stunning (there are more than one under the same roof and are sort of separate but linked up). The beams, wood cladding and white contemporary seating make for a very stylish yet relaxed vibe. Here is the full menu! (There are also Daylesford stores in London for city dwellers craving farmy Organic goodness - Notting Hill, Pimlico & Marylebone!)
There is even the outdoor pizza restaurant - its fabulous on a sunny Summer's day and is even open throughout the Winter months...(cool wedding venue!)
A lovely external shot of the restaurant seating outside, I love that impressive topiary, so clean and modern!
After a mooch around the garden room, cookshop and homeware department, oh and bakery and butchers, it was time to say farewell - just a quick dash to buy my top 4 products which I always manage to snap up at each visit, see below. Honestly the bread is AMAZING and the scent from the candles are INCREDIBLE!
I think what I love most about Daylesford is that it feels more like an experience than a visit to any old farm shop. The day flowed beautifully, from the yoga to the tea to the food to the shopping - it's all so lavish and luxurious and has an undeniable feel good factor! I am booked in for 6 more yoga lessons this year and looking forward to my next day at Daylesford!
