PATTERN: 6 WAYS TO WORK FLORAL PRINTS INTO YOUR DECOR
Last week I popped along to the Anthropologie press day and got to see the preview of their new Autumn/Winter collection - a brand new range of gorgeous homewares in collaboration with LIBERTY - oh my gosh I'm so excited for this. I'll be posting later in the summer on what's in store so keep an eye out for that but let me just say if you love Liberty's iconic prints and the quirky trends at Anthropologie you're going to love this collection! but for now....
FLORALS INSPIRED BY CHELSEA FLOWER SHOW
Yay! The RHS Chelsea Flower Show kicked off this week and it finally feels like summer. I absolutely love anything and everything floral so I'll be watching the highlights every evening to catch up on all things botanical. With my love of Granny Chic style in interiors I cannot help but get swept away in hunting for the prettiest and most stunning floral fabrics inspired by the colours and patterns of real flowers and plants. One of my favourite floral collections recently was by Liberty called the Secret Garden - rich deep and daring florals which look amazing in that shot above!
This is me in my bedroom with my floral wallpaper in the background - an avid floral fan.
DARE TO BE BOLD?
Going bold with florals can be a little daunting. I mean, I love the idea of going to town with floral fabrics and wallpapers in the same space but I know many of you, like me, may feel a tad shy of going the whole hog. So with that in mind I have put together this little edit of my current floral faves geared towards adding just a smudge of floral here and there with maximum impact.
1. THE FLORAL CURTAINS
These absolutely glorious floral curtains are so beautiful and just remind me of rustic France. Designers Guild are such a fab place to visit if you're on the hunt for bold florals with a contemporary twist. The colours, detail and scale of prints are breathtaking!
2. THE FLORAL CARPET
Gosh look at that fabulous patterned carpet! This is actually a paisley print so slightly off topic but the same principle can be applied to a floral carpet. This is a print by Felix Raison for The Alternative Flooring Company which do just that. I wasn't entirely sure about this to start with but it's growing on me and if paired with some super modern pieces it could look super cool in say a dining room?
3. THE FLORAL SOFA
The new PINCH collection at Heal's features this super gorgeous floral Pendel 2 Seater sofa - I've seen it in the flesh and can confirm it's beautiful. Just adding a pop of floral on a piece of furniture can create such a wow look, perfect for the living room or bedroom.
4. THE FLORAL WALLPAPER
Going floral on your walls is a big commitment but when it looks as good as this you'll wonder why on earth you didn't do it before! I spotted this design in last month's Elle Decor. It's a new print collection by Cole & Son and I'm totally in love! It's a bold print but so fresh and contemporary. Florals don't have to be fussy or chintzy (even though I love a bit of chintz!).
5. THE FLORAL BED FRAME
You could get away with this sort of floral bed frame in an otherwise super contemporary space so that it really pops and is the focal point of the room. I love this example by Sofas and Stuff with Liberty Fresco Lagoon fabric - WOW! Paired with plain linen bedlinen and pillows finishes off the look beautifully.
6. THE FLORAL BLINDS
It's becoming super popular to have wallpaper in your bathroom these days and I love that look, but, I also love bold floral blinds mixed in with a contemporary marble suite like this - isn't is delicious!
So could you go for any of these floral accents in your home decor? Which is your favourite? In the meantime be sure to tune into the Chelsea Flower Show highlights for some eye popping flower inspiration!
