Fresh flowers from Freddie's Flowers - a review by Camilla Pearl Interiors Blog.
Where do you buy flowers for your home? At home with Camilla Pearl Blog and Freddie's Flowers.

Where do you buy flowers for your home? The supermarket, florist or maybe you don't at all?

Personally, I love to have flowers in the house at all times and I usually buy them from the supermarket because it's easy to pop them in the trolley whilst doing the food shop.  I usually opt for Roses or Tulips and love how just adding in a bunch of flowers can make a room feel so much lighter and happier.

We've also attempted to grow our own flowers in the veggie patch this year.  The only problem being they look so lovely amongst the rest of the fruit and veg I can't quite bring myself to pick them.

I've also become rather partial to the faux (fake) variety of flower as of late (read more about that HERE).

But really, there is nothing quite like a fresh bunch of flowers - a kind of satisfaction equal to freshly laundered bed linen or a hoovered carpet.  It's lovely to see a pop of colour and the sweet perfume from a beautiful bouquet is one of life's simple pleasures.

When I met Freddie's Flowers

My mindset on buying the cheaper supermarket variety, however, changed recently starting with a stroll up the Kings Road a few months ago whilst on my way to the Saatchi Gallery.  I came across Freddie's Flowers on the street - and took note that this looked like a young, fun company.

In short Freddie's Flowers sell an online subscription service for weekly or fortnightly deliveries of fresh flowers to your home.  So instead of having to go out and buy flowers (or rely on your other half to buy them for you - yeah right) Freddie will set you up an account where you can set your delivery frequency and your flowers rock up automatically.

I loved the concept but didn't have time to sign up there and then, and to be honest, I thought £22 a bunch would dent my flower budget too much.  Read on for the maths on this though!

Fast forward a couple of months and low and behold a Freddie's Flowers ad popped up on my Facebook feed on the same day a friend popped over and said she had just had a delivery of beautiful flowers from this gorgeous company called Freddie's Flowers. She gave me her special friend code for a free bunch.  How could I resist! It was fate. A few days later I received my flowers. (You can get a friend code for a free bunch too if you read on guys!).

My Delivery

Delivery day and it was super exciting to receive my big box of flowers. The packaging was so lovely (that matters to me) and there was tonnes of information on the current flower, that being the Peony, and how to look after them properly.  I was also prompted to pop over to the website to see Freddie's tips on arranging which was helpful too.

Freddie looks like a lovely chap, wouldn't you agree?

I spent a bit of time arranging them but I quite like my flowers to look natural and a bit wild so this was the end result.

How long did they last?

The one thing I'd heard from people about Freddie's Flowers was that they seem to go on forever! This was music to my ears as I can never seem to get more than a week out of my usual supermarket bunches.

It's clear the quality of the flowers are superb.  They looked beautiful on day one without being fully in bloom and it took just a few hours after popping them in water for the Peonies to come to life and start to open.  I took a photo on day one and on day ten.  Fourteen days on as I write this they are still in the vase, I have trimmed more of the leaves off and taken a few out which were goners but they still look beautiful.  I'm due my next delivery in a few days so that will have been over two weeks worth of beautiful flowers.

So what about value for money compared with my usual supermarket spend? Let's do the math....

Supermarket Flowers Spend - £10 weekly

Freddie's Flowers Spend - £22 fortnightly

I'm happy to spend £2 extra for:

HOME DELIVERY

SUPERB QUALITY

LONGER LASTING FLOWERS

FLORIST STANDARD BOUQUETS

TIPS AND INFORMATION

FRIENDLY SERVICE

OPTIONAL DELIVERY HOLIDAYS AND A CANCEL AT ANYTIME POLICY

FEEL GOOD FACTOR

PLUS I REALLY DISLIKE GIVING ANY MORE OF MY MONEY TO SUPERMARKETS THAN I HAVE TO

I'm a fan

So, in short,  I've turned my back on supermarket flowers and I'm a fully fledged Freddie's Flowers convert.  There is definitely a feel good factor to having flowers delivered to your door - I'm sold. Thanks Freddie!
